GENERAL INFORMATION

  • What are your hours?

    • All pick-ups are by appointment. I don’t yet have a retail storefront with a bakery case full of desserts for customers to browse. Instead, all items are made once you’ve placed your order. This means that everything is made fresh just for you! The exception is during the Farmer Market season when you can find me with seasonal items on most weekends at various markets throughout the area. CALENDAR

  • Where are you located?

    • The bakery kitchen is located in Bucks County, PA, a northern suburb of Philadelphia at 77 Downey Drive, Suite 4, Warminster, PA 18974. It’s located in a small shopping strip inside the neighborhood of Warminster Heights off of Jacksonville Road - between Street Road and County Line Road. MAP My neighbors are La Corita Taco Shop, Joe & Tina’s Pizzeria III, and C&D Deli , so maybe set aside some time to get lunch.

  • Can I pick-up my order earlier than scheduled?

    • Maybe. I like to offer a 2- to 4-hour window of time for orders to be picked-up to allow some flexibility for my customers. Orders are baked, decorated, and packaged based on those scheduled times. If your schedule has changed please get in touch with me as soon as you can so we can find a solution. CONTACT

  • What methods of payment do you accept?

    • I accept cash and credit cards. All credit card transactions are made online through PayPal or Square (or Etsy if you purchase cookies there). You do not need an account with any of those sites to pay for your order. I will never ask for your credit card information on the phone or in an email so you know all payments are made through an encrypted means and with a trusted company. If there are any problems, you and I will both have means of protecting ourselves within the guidelines and policies of those companies.

  • Do you ship?

    • I’ve been shipping my decorated butter cookies for 8 years within the United States. I ship using the United States Postal Service Priority Mail service which takes 2-4 days. I’ve tried other companies but the USPS has the best prices and deliver my cookies with care. My plan is to start experimenting with shipping other items.

  • Do you make desserts for special dietary needs? Gluten-free? Nut-free? Vegan?

    • I do not have any vegan recipes. All of my recipes have one or more of the following: milk, eggs and butter. I am not set up to make products free of allergens. I am able to adjust my recipes to be wheat-free and nut-free with the understanding that though an allergen may not be listed in the ingredients, everything is produced in a facility containing known food allergens, including, but not limited to: wheat, eggs, milk, soy, peanuts, tree nuts and various fruits and vegetables.

  • Are you hiring?

    • I’m going to remain a one-woman shop for now. That includes interns.

  • How do I order a custom dessert (cakes, cupcakes, cookies, etc)?

  • When should I place my order?

    • As soon as you know you what you want! I work on a first come, first serve basis and it’s a small bakery. Not just because it’s only my two little hands that make everything, but because it’s only about a 400 square foot space and I have limited refrigerated and dry storage. Your desserts will be made as close to delivery/pick-up/shipping as possible.

  • How much do custom desserts cost?

    • Pricing is directly linked to the time it takes to complete your order which is determined by level of design and size of the order. Knowing your maximum budget serving requirements keeps me from designing something you love but can’t afford. Most of the time I can create something that you will love well within your budget.

  • Why do you need a deposit for my custom order?

    • A lot of planning goes into making my custom desserts. In the beginning I create the design and present you the sketches. And it doesn’t end there! Specialty ingredients or materials need to be ordered and unique and personalized pieces (like custom stencils or cookie cutters) need to be made in advance of baking and decorating. I may even be turning away other orders so that every cake and cookie order gets the individual attention it deserves.

  • Can I taste your cakes and/or cookies before placing my order?

    • Absolutely! Tastings aren’t just for wedding cakes, either. I do ask for payment for tastings but the cost is credited to your orders of $100 or more when placed within 4 weeks. Cost of tastings will be determined by the items you are tasting.

CAKES

  • Will my cake need to be refrigerated?

    • Yes. There are no added preservatives to my cakes. Buttercream is made with real butter. Ganache and whipped cream are made with real cream. Cream cheese buttercream is made with-can you guess?- real butter and cream cheese. Your cake will taste best at room temperature, so take it out in advance to take away the chill. Timing will depend on size and particular ingredients, so I will let you know what should work best.

  • How do you price your cakes?

    • Buttercream cakes start at $3.75/serving

    • Fondant cakes start at $4.25/serving

  • When do I pay for my cake?


  • When should I order my cake? Can I order a cake for same day or next day pick-up?

    • Katie’s is a custom-order bakery, which means I only make what my customers order. That means everything is made fresh, just for you. Basic layer cakes need a minimum of 3 days (72 hours) to prepare, but I would appreciate more time if it’s possible. More elaborate cakes will need more time and I work on a first come, first serve basis.

  • What flavors do you have?

  • Do you freeze your cakes?

    • Not unless I need to chill it extra fast in order to cut and carve it into shape.

  • Can you put fresh flowers on my cake?

    • Yes. I prefer to work alongside your florist to arrange the flowers so that if there is any damage to the cake I can fix any dings. Please make sure your florist know the blooms will placed on your cake and that they are safe to be in contact with food.

  • What size cake do I need?

    • Take a look my cake serving chart. I put this together years ago with different ways of cutting each cake because it really is all in how you slice it. Will you have other desserts? Do your guests expect large or small portions? Will they want seconds? Is this a children’s party or just adults? Or a mix? I’m happy to work with you to figure out how much cake you’ll need.
